On Tuesday, June 9, 2015, Mrs. Katarzyna Kacperczyk, the Undersecretary of State of the Republic of Poland, along with the Foreign Affairs delegation, visited the Calgary office of ORLEN Upstream Canada. The meeting was held as a part of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affair’s trade mission to Canada. While in Calgary, the delegation also visited the Global Petroleum Show.
The Polish delegation began their trade mission in Vancouver. Discussions with Canadian authorities included topics in the fields of energy including oil and gas, mining and environment. The group of thirty representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local authorities and leading Polish companies who operate in Canada visited the offices of two Polish national companies, KGHM International and ORLEN Upstream Canada, a part of the ORLEN Group.
The meeting held at the ORLEN Upstream Canada office in Calgary started with the traditional “White Hat Ceremony” which symbolizes Western Canadian hospitality, a ceremony which has been bestowed upon numerous dignitaries and guests of honour.
The delegation was given an overview of ORLEN Upstream Canada’s activities in Canada and were invited to ask questions.
The schedule for the day also included meetings with local Alberta authorities, including the Alberta Energy Regulator, the regulatory institution responsible for exploration and production activities in the province of Alberta. The delegation also visited the Global Petroleum Show, where the Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Montreal had a stand. Polish companies were invited to showcase their business at the stand.
The Global Petroleum Show, since its inception in 1968, is one the largest exhibition in the oil industry around the world. The annual show welcomes thousands of attendees and features 2000 exhibitors who present technical innovations in the field of improving services for the exploration and production industry. ORLEN Upstream Canada was a sponsor at the 2015 Global Petroleum Show.
